Track Rules
by Track Coaches
1.
Be at practice
Do not
schedule appointments during practice.
If you are
well enough to attend school you are well enough for
practice.
**If you miss
practice because of an out-of-school activity you are participating
in you may not be attending the next track meet.
2.
You are at practice to improve your event
performances.
You are
expected to do the workout your coaches have prepared for
you.
Continuous
display of disrespect and disruptive behavior could result in
dismissal from the squad.
3.
Proof of the use of alcohol, tobacco, or other illegal drugs will
result in dismissal from the team - no
warnings.
Refer to the
school policy.
4.
All team members are expected to ride the team bus to each
meet.
If you are
riding home with your parent: a parent/guardian must
sign the permission form that will be kept on a clipboard at each
track meet. One of the coaches will be carrying this
clipboard. No exceptions.
5.
Grades and schoolwork
We follow the
eligibility section of your student handbook.
6. Students who are held after school for unexcused absences (this includes not meeting your AR goal and discipline):
1st
time - jogging 1
mile.
No
practice until laps have been run.
2nd time - jogging 2 miles.
No
practice until laps have been run.
3rd time - jogging 3 miles.
will not be allowed
to compete in the next track meet.
4th time - will turn in all track items
checked out and will not be allowed to
practice the
remainder of the track season.
7.
At the track meet:
Sweat top and
bottom will be worn until Mr. Adkins takes off his jacket. If
a coach catches you without your sweats, you will not attend
the next track meet.
You are to encourage fellow track members while they are running by standing/sitting around the outside of the track. Don’t make your coaches tell you to do this.
Lunch coolers and personal bags are just that - PERSONAL! If you are caught PILFERING from someone else without permission you will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. If you do not understand any of this, ask one of your coaches.
No mixed genders will be allowed to share a blanket. No inappropriate signs of affection will be allowed. If you are caught doing this you will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
