Coca-Cola
If you are a truly motivated, dedicated, involved high school senior, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is awarding $3 million a year in scholarships to 250 deserving students just like you. Apply online today. A few minutes of your time could help get you through college and beyond. Deadline to receive completed applications is October 31st. For additional information go to www.coca-colascholars.org. Students MUST apply online. There are detailed instructions in Mrs. Newell’s office.
Grand Lodge of AF& AM of Kansas
This year’s essay contest title is “Is there such a thing as global warming? Explain your rationale.” The local lodge will award $200. Essays that earn State Honorable Mention will be awarded $500. 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place State essays will earn from $4,000 - $1,000. Your essay must be returned to Randy Charest by November 1st. Doane College
Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, will personalize a visit to fit your schedule, needs & interests. They also have select Fridays for information panels, highlights of academic life, a guided campus tour & a complimentary lunch. The “Fridays @ Doane” dates are October 26, November 9 & 16, February 29 & March 7. “Discover Doane Days” offer guided tpirs, information sessions with professors, coaches, financial aid representatives and admission counselors. Highland Community College
HCC is looking for students interested in becoming part of their Athletic Training/Sports Medicine Program. Students may be male or female, and of good character and hard working. Applicants must also be responsible, dependable and motivated. In-state students will be provided a books & tuition award. K-State College of Engineering
The KSU Engineering Scholarship Day Seminar will be held on Friday, October 26th. High school seniors in either of the following categories are eligible to attend:
1. Composite ACT Score of 32 or above, cumulative high school GPA of 3.85, and class rank in top 10%.
-or-
2. Composite ACT Score of 20 or above, cumulative high school GPA of 3.75, and class rank in top 15%.
Students participating in the KSU Engineering Scholarship Day Seminar who enroll in and pursue an engineering degree are guaranteed a KSU Scholarship of at least $1250 - $6000 for the 2008-2009 school year. See Mrs. Newell for a registration form. Registration deadline is Friday, October 5th.
Manhattan Area Technical College
MATC’s Open House is Thursday, October 18th. Tours begin every 15 minutes from 9:00 – 3:00 pm. The Student Government Organization is sponsoring a pizza & pop lunch for $2.00. If you are interested, contact Mrs. Newell as soon as possible. She will take a limited number of students to Manhattan for this event. This is your opportunity to visit all of their programs. They include Welding Technology, Automotive Collision Repair, Business & Computer Technology, Automotive Technology, Information & Network Technology, Building Trades, Nursing (CNA, LPN, RN), Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Electric Poser Distribution & Computer Aided Drafting Technology. Wichita State University
WSU College of Engineering is looking for students who are interested in degrees in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering. They are offering 30 scholarships for $10,000 to $15,000 to entering freshmen majoring in the field of engineering. You must submit an official high school transcript with ACT scores and an application for admission (available at http://webs.wichita.edu/ielc/banner/gateway.htm) by October 1st to be eligible for the November 9th competition. You may also pick up a Wallace Invitational for Scholarships in Engineering (WISE) Scholarship Application in Mrs. Newell’s office.
