Awards:
Kansas Governor’s Arts Awards – Now is the time
to nominate artists, arts organizations, arts in education, arts
advocates, arts patrons & arts communities who are heavily
involved in the arts. For complete details and instructions, please
download the Governor’s Arts Awards guidelines from
http://arts.ks.gov Click on “grant programs.” Deadline for
nominations is November 1st.
Scholarships:
AnyCollege.com – Seniors, go to
www.anycollege.com and click on the “Win a Scholarship” link. The
ongoing deadlines for $2,000 scholarships given 4 times a year are
September 30th, December 31st, March 31st & June 30th.
AnyCollege.com is a direct, user-friendly college search engine for
high school students. With no registration, students have direct
access to their straight-forward search tools. Their services are
free to all users.
Elks National Foundation – The State of Kansas will send 4 applications to national judging. These students are guaranteed a $4,000 scholarship. 38 State winners will receive $600 for their education. January 11, 2008 is the deadline for this scholarship. Affiliation with the Elks is not required, but a signature by a lodge member is required. Visit www.elks.org.lodges to find the Elks lodge nearest to where you live. Contact the Lodge for application drop-off times. Applications are in Mrs. Newell’s office.
Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship – Any high school student may is welcome to participate in this contest. The contest deadline is January 15, 2008. All designs and photographs must be original work by the applicant. To enter, register on the www.gallerycollection.com website. Look for the scholarship page on the site and complete the online application. Or, navigate directly to www.gallerycollection.com/scholarship.htm Detailed information is available in Mrs. Newell’s office.
Kansas VFW – The VFW Endowment Association Scholarship deadline is February 1, 2008. Applicants must provide the eligible VFW Post Number where their parents or grandparents are actively affiliated in Kansas, or at the time of his/her death. Complete rules and application forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office.
Burger King – Applications are available online from
October 15 – February 15. Eligibility to apply includes:
• Cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher
• Work part-time an average of 15 hours a week, 40 weeks a year
• Be actively involved in community service activities
• Demonstrate financial need
• Plan to enroll in an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university
or vocational/technical school this fall.

Kansas County Clerks’ and Election Officers Association -- Scholarships are limited to students who intend to major in Journalism, Political Science or Communications. High school seniors must have a 3.0 gpa. Applications are in Mrs. Newell’s office. The application deadline is April 6, 2008.
Kansas Masonic Foundation – This is a loan opportunity, not a scholarship. They are interest-free loans until you graduate or end the agreement with the foundation. Loan applications must be completed and returned to their office by April 15, 2008. Application forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office.
