Academy of Hair Design will be offering a $1,000 and two $500 scholarships for students who begin their training with them within 1 year of their graduation from high school. Financial aide is also available for qualifying students who submit the FAFSA. Classes begin every 2 months. American Academy of Cosmetology and Massage Therapy offers programs in cosmetology, esthetics, nail technology, and massage therapy in Manhattan and Topeka. If you would like more information or to schedule a college visit, go to www.americanacademymanhattan.com

Cleveland Chiropractic prepares students for a variety of health-care career fields. The college offers 3 degrees: Associate of Arts in Biological Sciences, a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Colby Community College would like to award a $1,500 renewable Presidential Scholarship. If you have an ACT composite of 22 or higher, are an exceptional individual and show strong academic promise, contact Mrs. Newell about applying for this scholarship. Only 1 senior can be nominated.

Emporia State University encourages students to schedule a visit. Visits begin at 10:30 am during the week, and on Saturday the 20th of October. To request additional information, go to www.emporia.edu/admiss. They have a new scholarship program, the Hornet Scholarship. It ranges from $500-$1800 for students with a 3.0 gpa and a 22 ACT. The priority date is February 15, 2008.

Kansas State University representative Ashley will be at CCHS on Thursday, October 18th at 7:45 am to visit with prospective students. Please contact Mrs. Newell if you are interested.

North Central Kansas Technical College Beloit Campus cordially invites you to their 44th annual Open House on Sunday, October 28th from 12:00 – 3:00. A buffet lunch will be served in the student union from 11:00 – 1:00. The menu is roast beer, chicken breasts, potatoes, vegetables, gravy, fruit & salad bar, and desserts. University of Kansas announces the Hixson Opportunity Award for students who would otherwise not be able to attend KU because of financial restrictions or personal hardships. Besides having faced hardships, applicants must have an ACT score of 21, have earned a 2.0 on the Kansas Board of Regents curriculum, and have submitted the 2008 FAFSA. A copy of the Hixson Opportunity Award application can be picked up in Mrs. Newell’s office. The application deadline is February 1, 2008.

University of Kansas School of Engineering is hosting the Engineering Expo 2008 on February 22nd & 23rd. The students of KU are currently preparing amazing examples for your visit that relate to what engineers do and how engineering influences our world. After November 1st, the registration forms, design contest rules, and detailed information regarding the Expo will be posted on their website at http://expo.engr.ku.edu

University of Kansas School of Music and Dance has scholarships available for students majoring in piano, organ, voice, dance band & orchestra instruments, and Jazz rhythm section.
