Scholarship & College Information
Scholarships:
Farmway Co-op, Inc. –
The KS Certified Crop Adviser
Program will award 1, $1,000 scholarship to any high school
student planning to major in, agronomy, crop science, ag
engineering or a related field of study. This is a 1-time
scholarship, but winners may re-apply after their 1st year.
Applicants should be self-starters, have a good academic standing,
be good school and community citizens and have a strong desire to
continue their education.
The KS Agribusiness Retailers
Association will award the following scholarships:
• 1 - $500 Jim Lee
Memorial Agribusiness/Agronomy Scholarship
• 3 - $500
Agribusiness/Agronomy Scholarships
Eligibility: student must plan to major in agronomy, crop science,
ag engineering, professional ag-chemical application or a related
field of study. This is a 1-time scholarship, but winners may
re-apply after their 1st year. Applicants should be self-starters,
have a good academic standing, be good school and community
citizens and have a strong desire to continue their education.

David Whitney Agronomy Scholarship
Eligibility: any undergraduate student majoring in agronomy at
Kansas State University their junior or senior year in
college.

Scholarship & Financial Aid:
The American Legion provides a
152-page book that lists scholarships, grants and loans for
qualified students. “Need A Lift?” contains extensive information
on scholarships for veteran’s dependents. Mrs. Newell has the
latest edition in her office. It is also available online at
www.needalift.org. Deadlines vary.
The American Legion National High School
Oratorical Contest Program is “A Constitutional Speech
Contest.” Thousands of dollars $$$$$$$$$$$ are awarded each year
for students winning the prepared oration on some aspect of the
Constitution of the United States. For more information, check the

Colleges:
Fort Scott Community College – FSCC is hosting their “Senior Day” on Thursday, November 1st. This is a very informative day which enables prospective students to view college life at FSCC. If you are interested & need more information, call Mert Barrows, Director of Admissions, at 1.800.874.3722, ext. 353 or 351.
North Central Kansas Technical College – NCKTC in Beloit is hosting their first annual Career Day on November 9th. Business & Industry from each of their career areas will speak to current and prospective students about their expectations in the world of work. Students will tour the facilities and perhaps receive a “hands-on” activity to see what that career is like. This is an excellent opportunity for students to experience a career and get information directly from the employers. Some employers have even given financial assistance to students to entice them to enter that career field. If you are interested, contact Mrs. Newell quickly. She will accompany interested students on November 9th.
Peru State College in Peru, NE – PSC Recruitment day is November 3rd. Athletes will visit the academic advisors, eat lunch with coaches & current bobcat athletes and attend a home football game that afternoon.
