College Information:

 

Barton County Community College

            BCCC Sports Medicine Department is looking for individuals interested in joining their student athletic trainers’ staff while continuing their education in college.  If a career in sports medicine interests you, please see Mrs. Newell.

 

Bethany College

            BC has been included in the U.S. News and World Report’s top tier of Midwest baccalaureate colleges.  They offer 44 majors and their job-placement rates are above 90%.  The Bethanian scholarship is for students who meet 2 of these 3 criteria:  3.5 gpa, score 25 of higher on the ACT composite, or rank in the top 25% of their graduating class.  Scholarship competition is February 23, 2008.  If you are interested, see Mrs. Newell.

 

Butler Community College

            The Humanities/Fine Arts audition/interview dates are February 2nd & 29th.  If you are interested in Art, Radio/TV Production, Sports Media, Newspaper, Magazine, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Theatre, Keyboard Accompaniment, or Dance Team contact Larry Patton, Dean of Humanities/Fine Arts Division.  He may be reached at lpatton@butlercc.edu

 

Colby Community College

            CCC senior day is Friday, November 16th at 10:00 am CST.  This will be a great opportunity to find out what you need to be doing to prepare yourself for college and a great senior year.  You will be able to meet with faculty advisers, coaches and activity sponsors, and win some great prizes.  You may register through Mrs. Newell’s office, or go to www.ccc-nikel@hotmail.com

 

 

Cowley College at Arkansas City

            Their priority deadline is January 8, 2008.  If you are eligible for an academic scholarship at Creighton, don’t miss this important date.

 

K-State Salina

            The ELITE (Enhancing Lives Through Technology and Engineering) a National Science Foundation scholarship grant program, is offering 15-25 annual scholarships for academically talented students.  Eligibility criteria includes:

1.       first generation college student (or)

2.       come from a rural area (or)

3.       economically disadvantaged (or)

4.       member of a minority group.

Students must seek an Engineering Technology degree in:

        Computer Systems Technology

        Construction Engineering Technology

        Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology

        Mechanical Engineering Technology

        Web Development Technology

Pittsburg State University

            PSU Honors College is for students with a minimum 3.5 gpa and a 28 ACT composite.  The application deadline is February 1, 2008.  Applications may be downloaded at www.pittstate.edu/admin/vpaa/honorscollege.html

 

Pratt Community College

            PCC offers several concurrent online courses for juniors and seniors in high school.  They cost $58 per credit hour for the 2008 spring semester.  Check the PCC website at www.prattcc.edu for more information.

 

 

Scholarship Information:

 

National Wild Turkey Federation

            The local NWTF chapter has announced their Conservation Scholarships.  If you are not a current NWTF member, you may join online at www.nwtf.org, or call 1-800-THE-NWTF.  Applications are due to the local chapter no later than January 1, 2008.  Application forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office.

 

McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship

            This scholarship is available to all high school seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating their own businesses while in high school.  To qualify, you must own and operate a genuine business (non-profits are eligible), have at least 1 employee (even if only part time), and complete their online application by January 15, 2008.  Apply online www.mckelveyfoundation.org and click on the Entrepreneurial Scholarship section.

 

ESA Foundation Scholarship

            This scholarship application requires a $5 filing fee and is due February 1, 2008.  Minimum application requirements include a 3.0 gpa and a 22 ACT composite.  There are several scholarships for which you may apply with this one form.  Application forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office.
