Southeast Community College in Nebraska awards scholarships to eligible students who wish to study at their Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford campuses. Seniors planning to attend SCC must complete the online scholarship application at http://www.southeast.edu/admissions/fin_scholarships.asp February 1, 2008, is the application deadline. There is a poster on the bulletin board, or you may go to www.southeast.edu for more information.
Scholarships:
Go to FastWeb for another scholarship opportunity. The Presidential Forum of Renewable Energy Student Essay Contest is available to undergraduate students between the ages of 18 – 24. To enter you must submit an essay of no more than 2500 words developing a plan to increase the use of renewable energy. Your essay will be judged based on originality, political and technical feasibility, long term implications as well as the effectiveness of your writing.
Fast Web has found another scholarship opportunity. This one, Brickfish Caucus: Tell us why you should be President! is for anyone who is at least 14 years of age. You must create a video, design your own political poster or create your own blog detailing why you should be President. Go to FastWeb.com to check out this and many other scholarships available.
Wendy Ann Koch Memorial Scholarship applications are due March 31, 2008. Applicants must plan to attend any accredited post-secondary school, including a college, university, technical or vocational school. Applicants must submit an essay which presents their high school activities, civic or church related activities, future education plans, and occupational goals and plans. Forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office.
The Kansas County Clerk and Election Officials Association is taking scholarship applications from those students who are majoring in journalism, political science or communications. The scholarships are available to high school seniors and college freshmen and sophomores who will be attending a college in Kansas. The scholarship committee will be awarding 12 scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each. Applications may be picked up in the guidance office. Deadline is April 4, 2008.
Magazine:
The 2007-2008 edition of “The Best of Co-op” is in the counselor’s office. It is a guide to the best co-op colleges & employers. It also lists $4.5 million in co-op scholarships.
