Scholarship Information:
Kansas V.F.W. & Auxiliary Annually, The Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary, through its Endowment Association, offer college and vocational school scholarships to the children and grandchildren of the membership. Applicants must have a parent or grandparent who is actively affiliated with a VFW Post or Ladies Auxiliary in the State of Kansas. Application forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office, or you may contact either the local VFW Post of State Headquarters at: VFW State Headquarters, P.O. Box 1008, Topeka, KS 66601-1008 (785) 272-6463. Completed applications must be received at Department Headquarters by February 1, 2008.
Monsanto “Commitment to Agriculture” One-time awards of $1,500 will be made to 100 school seniors who plan to pursue a career in an agriculture-related field. Applications are available in at www.monsanto.com or www.ffa.org. The National FFA Organization administers this scholarship program, but applicants are not required to be an FFA member. Deadline to apply is February 15, 2008.
KansasSociety of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. offers scholarships for $1300 - $500 for students who plan to major in accounting at a Kansas university or college, and who rank high in the ACT or SAT examinations. Deadline for submission of ACT of SAT scores is March 3rd. Once test scores have been received, a questionnaire/essay form will be sent to the student. The deadline for submission of completed questionnaire/essay forms is April 14, 2008.
Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. was created in Mrs. Scott’s memory after she was killed in the Pentagon on 9/11/01. High school seniors may be awarded $2500 if they complete the application and other requested documents. Applications and requested documents must be received or postmarked on or before the deadline date of March 15, 2008. Applications are in Mrs. Newell’s office. Farmway Co-op Inc. The purpose of this scholarship program is to help the youth of Farmway Co-op producer members continue their education in the area of agriculture. Applicants should have a background predominantly in the area of agriculture and their parents must be active producer members of Farmway Co-op, Inc. Students should be planning an agricultural related major or area of study at a junior college or university in the state of Kansas Applications should be received in the Farmway Co-op Administrative Office no later than May 31, 2008.

Selective Service System
Men, if you have celebrated your 18th birthday, it is Federal law that you register with Selective Service within a month of that birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for a driver’s license in most states. Plus, if you don’t register, you can’t get college loans, job training, or a lot of good jobs. You can register online at www.sss.gov, or you can fill out a registration card at the post office.
