Local Scholarships by Deadline:
March 31st:
Clay County Farm Bureau Association – is offering $250 to students whose parents are Clay County Farm Bureau members.
Dillinkoffer Endowment – established in memory of Gayle Dillenkoffer.
April 1st:
Bill Bechard Memorial – education major preferred, but not required. Two $250 scholarships will be awarded 2nd semester to 1 male & 1 female.
Catholic Daughters of the Americas – applicants must be active members of the Clifton or Clyde Catholic Church. Winners will be announced during Mass.
Clifton Alumni Association – preference to students who reside in Clifton, but all are encouraged to apply. This scholarship is based on academic achievement, leadership qualities, financial need and special abilities. It will be awarded the 2nd semester of college and presented to the recipient(s) at the Spring Alumni Banquet.
Clifton-Clyde Teacher’s Association – a minimum of 2 $150 scholarships will be presented, with more possible as funds are available. First preference of award will be to students planning to enter an occupation in the field of education. Second preference of award will be based upon:
Ø Financial need
Ø Benefiting the Clifton and/or Clyde communities
Ø Extra-curricular and community activities.
The scholarship money will be paid with proof of satisfactory completion (minimum grade of C or 2.0 in college) of 1 semester of college and proof of enrollment for the 2nd semester as a full-time student.
Clyde Alumni Association – all students are eligible to apply; not just students whose parents graduated from Clyde High School. The funds will be awarded the 2nd semester of college if the recipient has maintained a 2.0 (C) average the 1st semester.
Clifton-Clyde Ministerial Association – preference goes to a student who plans to attend a vocational/technical college. This is a faith-based scholarship, and will be judged on the basis of a personal faith statement and involvement in a local church. Two $250 scholarships will be awarded.
Clifton Service Organizations (American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, Clifton Lion’s Club & Clyde VFW) – these scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership qualities, financial need, and special abilities. Each scholarship will be for no less than $50 and will be awarded upon proof of having paid at least 1 semester’s tuition at the school of your choice. The only membership or affiliation that is required is for the Clyde VFW – a grandfather must be a member.
Clyde Knights of Columbus – for seniors who belong to St. John the Baptist or St. Mary of the Assumption Parishes. The scholarship will be presented upon proof of 2nd semester enrollment. Winners will be announced during Mass.
Clyde LIONS Club -- $200 will be paid to the school of the recipient’s choice upon notification of 2nd semester enrollment.
Clyde VFW Auxiliary -- $250 will be paid to the student upon completion of 1 semester of college work and proof of enrollment for the 2nd semester.
Judy Lambert Memorial – seniors who belong to St. John the Baptist or St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Churches may apply for this non-renewable $300 scholarship. It will be awarded 2nd semester. Winners will be announced during Mass.
Larry Jackson Memorial -- seniors who belong to St. John the Baptist or St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Churches may apply for this non-renewable scholarship. First criteria will be music majors. All others who demonstrate a love of God will be considered. Winners will be announced during Mass.
Msgr. Spoorenberg – student must belong to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Clyde. This is a non-renewable $250 scholarship to any 2- or 4-year college. It will be awarded the 2nd semester. Winners will be announced during Mass.
PEO – girls only may apply for this $200 scholarship.
Phillis Sorell Memorial -- seniors who belong to St. John the Baptist or St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Churches may apply for this non-renewable scholarship. It is a $100 scholarship to be paid after the completion of the 1st semester of college. Winners will be announced during Mass.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church – students who belong to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church may apply for this scholarship. Award will be based upon involvement in the local parish. Winners will be announced during Mass.
April 10th:
Steven R. Douglas – for students who are enrolled in a vocational-technical school. The applicant needs a cumulative 3.0 grade point average to apply. $200 will be awarded 2nd semester.
April 15th:
Lawrence Foundation -- $500 will be awarded the 2nd semester to any school or program leading to an agriculture-related career. It is renewable 1 time, for a total of $1,000.
Lester C. Lawrence – for men only with a 2.8 or higher grade point average. $500 will be awarded 2nd semester of a 4-year college. It is renewable 1 time for a total of $1,000. Award may be delayed if the student begins at a junior college.
Margaret Howe Christian – for women only with a 2.8 or higher grade point average. $500 will be awarded upon proof of enrollment 2nd semester to a 2- or 4-year college.
Margaret Howe Christian Memorial – for men only who attend Kansas State University. Eligibility is based upon promise of usefulness in future years, financial need, leadership, scholastic ability and ACT scores. $500 will be awarded upon proof of enrollment 2nd semester.
Harold L. and Leola B. Wood Memorial – students who plan to pursue a vocational/technical career will be given preference for this scholarship. $500 will be paid 2nd semester to the vocational/technical or trade school of the recipient’s choice.
Lloyd A. Welborn Memorial – students with a high school grade point average of 3.0 may apply for this scholarship. It is a 1-time award of $500 given 2nd semester to a 2-year, 4-year, or vocational institution. Criteria is also based upon Christian values, participation in extracurricular activities in high school, and a 100-word essay.
May 1st:
Student Council – past or present stuco members may apply for this $50 scholarship, which is given directly to the student, his or her 2nd semester of college.
Teresa Barnes Memorial -- $200 will be awarded to a student going into the field of nursing. However, anyone pursuing medical degree is encouraged to apply. The monies will be paid upon proof of 2nd semester enrollment and a 2.0 grade point average 1st semester of college.
May 10th:
Faith United Church – active members may apply for this scholarship.
July 1st:
Msgr. Clement A. Kruse – applicant must be an active registered member of a Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Salina. Awards will be announced soon after the July 1st deadline.
Marymount Memorial Educational Trust – up to $1,000 will payable to an accredited Catholic college, ½ at the time of enrollment 1st & 2nd semesters. Eligibility requirements include being an active registered member of a Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Salina & full-time attendance at a Catholic College.
