Scholarships:
Steve Harper Memorial Scholarship:
This $1,000 scholarship is for students who will be attending a Kansas college and majoring in either a natural resources or photography curriculum. Application deadline is April 15th. Forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office.
Board of Regents Universities Music Scholarships:
An anti-trust litigation case involving Sony Music Entertainment, Inc., was resolved and the settlement led to funding being made available for students pursuing the areas of vocal or instrumental music at the 6 Kansas Regents universities. Those universities include: University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Wichita State University, Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University and Pittsburg State. Use of the funds is to be consistent with the settlement which calls for the settlement funds to be “used to further music related purposes or programs.”
Each institution will be able to award 3 scholarships in the amount of $2,482 each. Preference in awarding this scholarship shall go to entering freshmen. One will be a vocal scholarship and two will be instrumental scholarships. Application deadline is May 1, 2008. The “Songs o Kansas Music Scholarship” application is on file in Mrs. Newell’s office.
College Information:
PrattCommunity College:
PCC is looking for students who would like to be on the cheer and dance squads. Male and female cheerleaders and female dancers will be participating with the best in the State of Kansas and will participate in state and national competitions. All members receive full scholarships each semester (which covers books & tuition). For more information, contact Teri Befort at (620) 770-2477.
Universityof Kansas:
2008 Annual Sneak Peek Saturday is April 5, 2008. This is for all Scholarship Hall and the department of student housing information. Sneak Peek is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience firsthand what it is like to live in a Scholarship Hall at KU. Their program is designed to provide useful information for both students and parents about the cooperative living system that makes our community unique. Sneak Peek will take place on Saturday, April 1st from 1:00 – 5:00. The priority registration deadline is Wednesday, March 26th. Registration forms are in Mrs. Newell’s office.
Universityof Kansas:
On Tuesday, March 11th, KU and the Office of Admissions and Scholarships is hosting this year’s “Concordia Hawk Talk” at 6:30 at the Holiday Inn Express, 2175 Lincoln South Highway 81 in Concordia. The program is designed to educate prospective students and their families about the exciting opportunities at KU. If you plan to attend, please RSVP at www.admissions.ku.edu/receptions.
WichitaState University:
