CCHS CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT MARYSVILLE

The Eagles had 6 boys and 6 girls participate in the Marysville meet. The girls run 4000 meters while the boys run 5000 meters. For five it was the first time to see a cross country race besides running in one. Both teams participated well. The girls ran first and were able to win the meet. Karly VanCampen placed first in a time of 15:49 followed by teammate Kenzie George in 16:26. Blair Bloomfield finished in 10th place in 18:58. Ashley Seifert, running in her first meet, finished 16th in 19:16. Allie Bloomfield was 24th in 22:00 and Kayle VanCampen finished 26th in 22:05. The top four Eagle runners receive individual medals and each team member received a medal. Team placing were CCHS 1st with 41 points, Nemaha Valley 49, Horton 52, and Washington 69.

This is the first year in the past six that the boys have had enough runners for a team. It was the first race for four freshman boys. Cody Newell finished 16th in 19:53. Good enough for a medal. Christian Newell finished 32nd in 22:09, Mitchell Long 33rd in 22:14, Barrett Winter 36th in 22:23, Grant Rogers 39th in 23:15, and Trevor Barnes finished 42nd in 23:31. Alex Potuzak did not participate because of an injury. The boys finished in 5th place as a team with 113 points. Washington boys won with 31 points. The boys learned a lot from this meet and should improve in their next race at Washington on Thursday.
