 Board of Education Meeting

December 10, 2008, 6:00 p.m.

Clifton Clyde High School Library

    Transportation/Maintenance Supervisor

Call to Order

This meeting was continued from the December 1, 2009 meeting and called to order at 6:00 p.

    m. by President Brown.

Middle School Football Field

The board discussed the lights on the football field at the middle school.  With the exception of

one power pole that must be replaced, the light poles are in good condition.  The wiring,

however, is very old, has become stretched over time and the insulation is falling off.  Gary

Bouley has received an estimate of $9,500 from the power company for rewiring.  If this work

isn’t done, there is no guarantee that the lights will even work for another season.  The request

from the Salvation Army to use the field with lights in the fall of 2009 is a concern because of

    these problems.

The school only uses the lights for a couple of football games and that equals about four hours

    a year.

The board discussed applying for grants and approaching the Clifton city council and ball

association for help in covering the cost.

The board expressed concerns that the high school football field needs to be recrowned and

that amount of money would probably cover that expense.

This item will be on the agenda for the January Board of Education meeting.

Superintendent Search

The board discussed the schedule for the superintendent search.  They decided to

make characteristics/qualities/qualifications surveys available to the staff for their input on what

they would like to have in a new superintendent.  They will be given or mailed to Max Heim,

KASB Western Kansas Field Specialist and be completely anonymous.  Mr. Heim will be

available to the staff on December 18th in all buildings if they wish to discuss this with him.

When the final candidates are selected, they will be set up with a tour of the buildings and area

before returning to the district office for their interview.

Adjourn

The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
