Kansas Board of Regents Vocational Education Scholarship

            This scholarship was designed for full-time students who enroll in designated 1- or 2-year vocational programs.  Designated programs are located at various Kansas area technical schools/colleges, community colleges, KSU-Salina, several 4-year colleges and proprietary schools.  Only certificate and selected 2-year degree programs are included among the designated technical programs.  Students with, or applying for, baccalaureate degrees are not eligible for funding. 

            To apply for a vocational scholarship, you must be a Kansas resident, plan to enroll full time (12 credit hours) in a designated vocational program in Kansas, and take the designated vocational scholarship test which is given 2 times a year. 

            To register, complete both sides of the paper form and mail it with the $10.00 exam fee by October 15th for the October 31st test date; or by February 19th for the March 6th test date.

RuralVoices Youth Contest

            For a chance to win up to $650, prepare an original work based on the theme of “Rural Kansas…Working Together.”  High school seniors have 3 ways to enter and win:

1.      write a minimum 1,000 word fiction or non-fiction piece; or

2.      take 10 – 20 photographs; or

3.      create a video of no more than 10 minutes.

2010 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest

            This contest promotes student involvement in the civic life of our country.  Students can explore the compelling concept of political courage.

            You will write an original and creative essay of less than 1,000 words that demonstrate an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage

            All students must register online.  Essays can be submitted online or via regular mail by the postmark date of January 9, 2010.

             

 

KU Self Engineering Leadership Fellows

            KU School of Engineering is looking for real people.  Students who are involved.  Students with vision.  Students who have leadership experience.  Students with ability.  Students who love science and math.  And, yes, that includes students who may not be the top In their class.

            The Madison and Lila Self Engineering Leadership Fellows (SELF) Program for engineering and computer science students at KU offers a $20,000, 4-year financial package paired with an enrichment program designed to build talented students into talented professionals who will make a difference in business and industry.

National Commission for Cooperative Education

            The NCCE partners with Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, Pace University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.  They award 170 $6,000 scholarships annually, which are renewable. 

            The NCCE is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing high quality, college-level cooperative education.  For additional information, visit their website at www.co-op.edu

            This is a free Christian College information service.  Go to www.ChristianConnector.com to take advantage of this free scholarship resource.  Over $150 MILLION in scholarships is provided by participating Christian Colleges.  The website also allows students to search for the different types of scholarships that are of interest.
