Call to Order
President Brownell called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m.
Approve Agenda
An executive session to discuss non-elected personnel was added to the agenda. Motion
made by Seifert, seconded by Branfort to approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried 6-0.
Executive Session
Motion made by Branfort, seconded by Seifert to enter into executive session for a period of
five minutes to discuss non-elected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the
individuals to be discussed. Motion carried 6-0.
The board entered into the session at 6:58 p.m. and reconvened in open session at 7:03 p.m.
Mr. Pekarek was invited into the session.
Board Member Leaves
Kieffer left the meeting at 7:03 p.m.
Motion made by Seifert, seconded by Ohlde to extend the executive session for a period of
five minutes. Motion carried 5-0.
The board entered into the session at 7:04 p.m. and reconvened in open session at 7:09 p.m.
Mr. Pekarek was invited into the session.
Motion made by Brownell seconded by Ohlde to extend the executive session for a period of ten minutes. Motion carried 5-0.
The board entered into the session at 7:10 p.m. and reconvened in open session at 7:20 p.m.
Mr. Pekarek was invited into the session.
Resolution
Motion made by Branfort, seconded by Brownell to adopt the following resolution:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Bryn Peterson is currently employed in Unified School District No. 224,
Washington County, Kansas; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of said Unified School District No. 224,
Washington County, Kansas, finds that the contract of Bryn Peterson should be
nonrenewed, and that Bryn Peterson should be given written notice on or before
the third Friday in May of 2010 of the intent of the board of education to nonrenew
her contract for the 2010-2011 school year;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF
UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 224, WASHINGTON COUNTY, KANSAS,
AS FOLLOWS:
It is hereby declared to be the intent of the Board of Education of Unified School
District No. 224, Washington County, Kansas that the employment contract of
Bryn Peterson be nonrenewed for the 2010-2011 school year; and
The clerk of the board of education is directed to give written notice in person
or by United States First Class mail to Bryn Peterson on or before the third Friday
in May of 2010, of the board’s intent to nonrenew this contract for the 2010-2011
school year.
TO BE ADOPTED by the Board of Education of Unified School District
No. 224, Washington County, Kansas as written, by the close of business
the 21st day of May, 2010 if a suitable applicant is not found to fill the additional
.4 position.
