GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY PLACES 3RD AT STATE On October 30th the Eagles traveled to Wamego to compete in the State Cross Country Championships. The girls were ranked 3rd in the coaches pole and really were excited with the chance to take home a State Trophy. The Eagles all ran well and were happy with their performances. Karly VanCampen was again the first Eagles to finish in 5th place with a time of 16:27. Alyssa Hubert finished 21st in 17:46, Airika Long 34th in 18:30, Ashley Seifert 48th in 19:26, and Taylor Seifert finished 60th in 20:09. Bethany Branfort was also a member of the team but did not compete. After the race the Eagles were anxious while they waited for the team results. Tribune-Greely County was State Champion with 61 points. Burrton was second with 70 points and Clifton-Clyde was close behind with 73. Lawrence-Bishop Seabury had 94. The girls had won the third place trophy. The 2010 team was made up of four seniors and two freshmen. The seniors supplied much leadership and the freshman contributed much to the team. Airika was the second or third Eagle to finish at all the meets and Taylor was the fourth or fifth Eagle runner. At regionals the freshman made it possible to have a complete team so that they could advance to State. The Eagles had four seniors finish their successful cross-country careers with an impressive finish at the State Meet. The seniors have been part of many meet wins, four TVL titles, and three team appearances at the State Meet. We will miss Karly, Alyssa, Ashley and Bethany next year.
