Welcome from the New USD 224 Superintendent!
By Brian Pekarek
Hello! My name is Brian Pekarek, and I am the new USD 224 Superintendent for 2009-2010. I wanted to briefly introduce myself to the Clifton-Clyde students, parents, and community members. As the USD 224 Superintendent this year, I will be writing a column in the USD 224 website every month regarding a different aspect of the Clifton-Clyde School District. This month, I wanted to take some time to introduce myself and my family to the community so that you could know us a little better.
My Professional Career: I started my
professional career as a high school social studies teacher in
Quinter, Kansas. After being a teacher a number of years, I became
a school counselor and served in both the elementary and secondary
school settings. As time passed, I became a school administrator
and served in the Emporia School District a number of years as
well. Recently, I finished my District-Level Superintendent
Licensure and I am currently working on my Doctorate at Kansas
State University.
My Educational Philosophy: As an educator, I
am committed to making sure that USD 224 provides the best
education for our children. I am focused on reaching every
student’s individual needs and providing the best educational
environment for our teachers and children. I am dedicated to making
sure that our children reach their full potential as students, and
that they are given the necessary skills to succeed in today’s
world.
My Family: My wife (Robyn) and I have moved to
Clifton-Clyde with our two boys (Seth: 2 yrs old; and Thad: 2
months old) from Emporia, KS. As a family, you may see us this
summer taking long walks with our dog, going to the Clifton and
Clyde swimming pools, attending church, and going to the Library.
Other pastimes that we enjoy are attending Kansas State Football
games, playing the piano and guitar, and jogging.
My Community Focus: My wife and I both grew up
in small Kansas towns, and we are extremely pleased to bring up our
children in a similar environment as well. Coming from outside the
district, we have heard a great deal about the good academic and
athletic programs within the Clifton-Clyde School District, and we
are excited to join in this positive tradition. We plan on getting
involved in various church and community groups in both Clifton and
Clyde, and we look forward to getting to know the students,
parents, and community members of USD 224.
You are always welcome to contact me anytime at the Clifton-Clyde Board Office (785-455-3313) if you have questions or concerns either now or during the school year. Thank you.
Mr. Brian Pekarek,
USD 224 Superintendent
