VANCAMPEN WINS AT RILEY COUNTY
The Eagles’ Cross Country Team ran in the Riley County Invitational at the Leonardville Golf Course on Saturday, October 11. There were 21 teams competing. The girls ran first. Karly VanCampen led the girls’ race from start to finish. She covered the 4k run in 16:09.16. This was 3.71 seconds ahead of second place. Kenzie George was the next Eagle to finish in 16:45.27 good for 7th place. Ashley Seifert followed her in 26th place in 18:29.11. Alyssa Hubert finished in 32nd place with a time of 18:46.57 and good for the last individual medal. Blair Bloomfield finished 64th with a career best time of 19:57.38. The girls performed well enough to capture the third place team medals. Riley County was first with 32 points, Southeast of Saline second with 70 and the Eagles third with 103. This was the girls best performance of the year.
The boys followed the girls’ race. Alex Potuzak was the first Eagle to finish. He place 29th in 19:34.36. This was good for a medal. Barrett Winter ran the course in 23:37, Grant Rogers finished in 25:36 and Jordan Breeding finished in 29:39.
