Student Council Regional Conference

Student Council Regional Conference
On Monday, September 28th, five student council members attended
the regional conference in Salina. The students who attended are
Laura Rogers, Megan Blackwood, Alyssa Kieffer, James Quillen, and
Reed Bergstrom.
They had the privilege of hearing Dr. Earl Reum speak to the entire
assembly of about 300 area student council members. Dr. Reum is
known nationally as “Mr. Student Council.” For nearly fifty years
he has worked to make the regional conferences significant events
in members’ lives. He brings an energy with him that has been
compared to a Class 3 hurricane. He focuses his energies on
leadership education and developing opportunities for young people
to participate in significant activities to grow through leadership
experiences.
They then broke into smaller groups to discuss issues pertinent to
student council organizations.
The students came away from the day with ideas about how to
contribute to their schools and communities; how to get more
students involved; and how to be more effective leaders.
