The University of Kansas
KU’s Hixon Opportunity Award is for students whose parents did not go to college, or those who don’t think they can afford to go to KU. Eligibility criteria includes:
- Students who have faced personal challenges or hardship
- Students who are admitted to KU through the Board of Regents curriculum requirements
- Students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid)
Applications are available online at www.scholarships.ku.edu/hixson.shtml or in
the guidance office. Deadline is February 1, 2010.
TwinValley Telephone
If you receive your telephone service from Twin Valley, you are eligible to apply for their scholarship program. The application can be found and downloaded from the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) website at http://www.frs.org. Completed applications have to be signed by a Twin Valley representative, and sent to Twin Valley Telephone by February 15, 2010. Applications postmarked after that deadline will not be accepted.
WashingtonCrossing Foundation
If you are a history buff or enjoy politics or see the government or military service in your future, you may be eligible for a $1,000 - $7,500 scholarship. Visit their web site at www.gwcf.org for more information. Deadline is January 15, 2010.
